Rewrite your own version of a fairy tale from a new perspective or in a unique setting, or take a classic fairy tale and turn it on its head! Participants in this workshop will discuss fairy tales and fables, then explore how to alter, twist, and rework these classic stories to create fractured fairy tales. We’ll look at The Three Story of the Three Little Pigs by A. Wolf, as told by Jon Scieszka and Lane Smith (pictured here) as an example before creating the outlines for our own tales. Participants in this workshop should be able to read and write independently.

This event is exclusively for Library members between the ages of 6–12. Attendees are expected to familiarize themselves with the Library Policy for Children and the Rules and Code of Conduct so that we can provide a pleasant library environment for all patrons.

Participants are welcome to arrive early or stay after the program to chat with other readers, and to find new books in our collections. With your help, we hope to inspire children to become lifelong readers.
