Teen Night: Open Mic Night (ages 12–18)

Fri November 6 @ 19 h 00 - 21 h 00

Read poetry, sing, play an instrument, or share a comedy routine with a supportive audience!

The mic is yours! There’s no dress code, and no audition! Simply sign-up to sing, play an instrument, read an original work of poetry, perform a comedy routine, or share your favorite lyrics or poem by another artist. This is an evening to express yourself in a supportive community. If you sign-up to perform, you can sign-up two friends to come for free.

Guidelines to help create a fun and supportive space to share creative work:

  • Arrive early (plan to arrive at 18h30 if you’re a performer, and between 18h30–18h50 if you’ll be in the audience).
  • Watch and support every performer
  • Performers: respect your time limit
  • If your performance requires unusual equipment or extra setup time, contact the library staff
  • Content must be appropriate
  • Write and perform your own original material, or give credit if you’re sharing someone else’s work
  • Be ready when your name is called

This Open Mic Night is intended to give teens in the community a place to perform, practice, meet people. Your own performance may last only two or three songs, and you may not take the stage at all, but the way you take part in the event can affect the whole room. Open Mic etiquette comes down to this question: are you helping everyone in the room have a great time?

Drinks and light snacks will be provided by the Library.

This event will be hosted by Children’s and Teens’ Services staff members, with the help of Library volunteers.
