For ages 6-12
Children and their grown-ups are invited to join us for a reading and art workshop direct to your living room, kitchen, bedroom, or wherever you connect. Caregivers are requested to join in with young children and assist them.
As the situation with Covid-19 evolves, here at the Library we continue to monitor the news carefully. We’re moving as many programs for children and teens as possible to a virtual format until further notice. We will run this program by connecting online via Zoom.
While we usually don’t recommend screen use for young children, as per guidance from specialists (see articles
here,
here and
here), video conferencing can be appropriate when mediated by an adult. For this workshop, we will take a look at books illustrated with cutouts and collage and look at the techniques used by the illustrators then, we will create our own works of art.
For this workshop, participants will need to gather these items ahead of time:
- a blank piece of paper to be used as the background
- paper scraps, wrapping paper or other colored pieces of paper
- crayons, colored pencils, or markers
- glue or a glue stick
- scissors
Children’s and Teens’ Services Manager Celeste will be ready for you by 10h15. You can join at anytime after 10h15 on Thursday 2 April via Zoom. The session will begin at 10h30.
