Pulitzer Prize-winning author Viet Thanh Nguyen shared the books he’s reading now and those he enjoyed as a child in a recent New York Times article. He calls the stack of books next his bed the “leaning pile of guilt.” And he reveals that he finds comfort in the books he reads to his 3-year-old son, many of which have moral clarity. He says Star Wars is relevant to our age because “most people identify with the rebels but so many are complicit with the Empire.” There are books he enjoyed so much as a child that he’s afraid to re-read them again for fear of spoiling that experience. He ends the article with a long list of books he’s looking forward to reading next.
We’ve selected a few books from among Nguyen’s favorites that you can check out from the Library. To read the full article, go here.
