The Center for Writers and Translators at the American University of Paris is delighted to present, in collaboration with the American Library in Paris, a conversation with Vanessa Onwuemenzi about Dark Neighbourhood, her debut collection of short fiction. Published last October, the volume was named a Guardian Best Fiction of 2021. “She sends English off on a great line of flight,” novelist Tom McCarthy has remarked of Onwuemenzi’s writing, “from which it returns as poetry.”
