2025 Summer Reading Challenge
This summer, supercharge your reading with the Library’s Summer Reading Challenge.
First, choose from a variety of prompts, from finally cracking open that book that’s been gathering dust on your shelf to exploring banned titles. Read at least five books and tell us about them using the form below before 7 September to earn a reward worthy of a bookworm!

- Reread a book you love.
- Read a children’s book.
- Read a book published this year.
- Listen to an audiobook.
- Read a book that’s out of your comfort zone.
- Read a book about an adventure.
- Read a book submitted to the 2025 American Library in Paris Book Award.
- Read a book translated from another language.
- Read a book by someone who’s spoken at the Library.
- Read one book while shirking other responsibilities.
- Read a book in one sitting.
- Read a book set in France.
- Read a memoir or autobiography.
- Read a book that was banned or challenged.
- Read a book recommended by a library staff member.
- Read a book featuring an artist or writer as the main character.
- Read a book that’s been sitting on your shelf (or digital queue) for over a year.
- Read a debut novel.
- Read a book that inspired a film or TV adaptation — then watch the adaptation.
- Read a book that explores a culture different from your own.

Summer Reading Cup for Kids
Young readers can also join the race for glory in our 2025 Summer Reading Cup for kids.
Here’s how to participate:

Pick up a Summer Reading Cup card at the Children’s and Teens’ Services Desk.

Each day you read for 30 minutes or more (ages 0–11) or 1 hour or more (ages 12–18), check off a box on your card.

When your card is full, return it to the Library to enter the weekly prize drawing.

Pick up a new card and keep reading for more chances to win!
All completed cards must be returned by Saturday 30 August 2025 to be entered into the grand prize drawing.
Weekly prizes include gift cards, books, Library tote bags, Teen Night passes, and more. The Summer Reading Cup is open to all Library members aged 0–18.
