2018 Top Circulating Books at the Library
28 January 2019Library Culture Picks by Mike Duffy: February 2019
4 February 2019It should come as no surprise that staff members of the American Library in Paris are avid readers. We are constantly sharing our favorite books and genres with whoever wants to listen to us. Many of us belong to book groups, both in person and online. Some staff members use Goodreads to track their reading, while others use notebooks, spreadsheets, or just keeping simple lists of books read and to-be-read.
The Library has been organizing a very successful Summer Reading Challenge for kids and teens for many years now. Certificates are given to all participants and prizes to those who read the most books. This year, we are doing a friendly competition of book reading amongst the staff as we motivate each other to read across genres, for pleasure and for work, as often as possible. One Library staff member has a reading goal of 250 books in one year, followed by others who will attempt 111 and 100 books. Many of us are trying to read at least one book a week, with goals of 40, 45, and 75 books in one year.
We have created a 2019 American Library in Paris Reading Challenge on Goodreads to share our books and reviews. All Library members are invited to join the group and participate.
Here are some of the books that the Library staff are enjoying to start off the reading challenge:
