A Poetry Reading with Alice Oswald

Wed April 22 @ 19 h 30 - 20 h 30

Join us for an intimate reading with Alice Oswald, one of the most original poetic voices of her generation. In partnership with the Institute for Ideas and Imagination.

An intimate evening of poetry unfolds among the Library’s stacks. Alice Oswald, author of several acclaimed collections and former Oxford Professor of Poetry, will read from past and recent work.

In partnership with the Institute for Ideas and Imagination, this evening offers the chance to encounter poems by one of Britain’s most distinctive contemporary poets in the Library’s stacks, inviting us to pause—and to listen.

About the speaker:

Alice Oswald lives in Devon and has worked as a gardener and poet. She has a particular interest in oral and anonymous poetry and has published three anthologies and seven poetry collections, including Dart, Memorial, and Falling Awake. Among her distinctions are the Griffin Poetry Prize and the Ted Hughes Award for New Work in Poetry. From 2019 to 2023, she was the Oxford Professor in Poetry.

Alice is currently a 2025/2026 Fellow at the Institute for Ideas and Imagination.
