SUMMARY:Bilingual Storytime at Bibliothèque Georges Brassens (ages 3–7)
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””]Join Children’s and Teens’ Services Manager Celeste Rhoads and Children’s and Teens’ Services Librarian Laurine Lucie for a bilingual storytime in French and English at a Paris municipal library in the 14th arrondissement: Bibliothèque Georges Brassens. Laurine and Celeste will read several picture books on the theme: Eat Up! They will also lead the group in songs and hand rhymes. This participatory program is intended to encourage children to actively engage with stories. Our librarians will read books and lead you and your little ones in songs and hand-rhymes during this live\, interactive session. Participants should plan to join in\, sing along\, move around\, and model movement and listening for your little one. We ask that all caregivers put away their phones and other electronic devices for the duration of this program. Graham’s poems confront the defining crises of our time – from ecological collapse and political violence to technological acceleration to late-stage capitalist excesses. Killing Spree asks what poetry can still reveal amid crisis\, and traces the struggle to remain fully human in a damaged world. \nAbout the speaker: \nJorie Graham is the author of sixteen collections of poems. Her poetry has been widely translated and has been the recipient of numerous awards\, among them the Pulitzer Prize\, the Forward Prize (UK)\, the Los Angeles Times Book Award\, the International Nonino Prize\, and the Rebekah Johnson Bobbitt National Prize for Poetry from the Library of Congress.
