SUMMARY:Winter Wonderland (all ages)
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Kick off the new year\, and meet fellow Library members during our annual winter and new year celebration full of music\, games\, crafts\, fun\, and surprises! This event will be hosted by Children and Teens Services staff members with the help of Library volunteers. Musical Emily Bonn will perform as part of the celebration and light refreshments will be provided. \nFor this winter-themed celebration\, put on something sparkly\, or dress up as your favorite winter creature*! \nAbout Emily Bonn: Emily Bonn is an American musician and children’s music educator from the Bay Area. She currently works as a children’s librarian at the Mill Valley Library in California. Her country swing band\, The Vivants perform regularly around the Bay Area with a mix of bluegrass\, swing and old-time country Americana. \nThe activity is entirely in English\, and no translation will be provided. All participants must be able to understand and speak English in order to participate in the program. Children between the ages of 0–6 must be accompanied by a chaperone at all times while inside the Library. SUMMARY:Saturday Series: Exploring Cut Paper Crafts (ages 6–12)
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]From famous artworks in museums by Henri Matisse to illustrations in picture books by Eric Carle and Oge Mora\, and traditional art such as kirigami\, there are myriad examples of cut paper art. Participants in this workshop will take a look at examples of paper cutting art and crafts such as portrait silhouettes\, pin-pricked paper designs\, and decoupage\, then make their own pieces of art. Caregivers are invited to sing along with songs and rhymes for very young children\, and enjoy a reading of short picture books. The program is entirely in English\, as are all of our events for children and teens. No translation will be provided. This session will be hosted by Children and Teens Services Manager Celeste Rhoads\, with the help of Library volunteers. \nEach child must be accompanied by an adult chaperone\, and chaperones are required to remain with their children for the duration of the program. Short horror films created by the Library’s Master Shot Film Club will be screened in the Library’s Reading Room\, followed by a costume contest at 19h30. \nFirst\, second\, and third prize costume prizes will be awarded.
