Ms. Tarpley will answer audience questions after the reading\, and then lead participants in a short activity around the award-winning book The Me I Choose To Be.\n\nMs. Tarpley will be signing books\, and books will be available for purchase at this event courtesy of The Abbey Bookshop.\n\nAbout Natasha Tarpley: Natasha Tarpley is the author of the best-selling picture book\, I Love My Hair!\, as well as other acclaimed titles for children and adults. She is the recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship among other awards. When she is not writing books\, Ms. Tarpley can usually be found reading them. She has also taken up the cruel and unusual hobby of running marathons. Ms.Tarpley is the co-founder of Voonderbar! Media\, a multicultural children’s book media company. SUMMARY:Summer Reading Club Kick-Off (ages 0–12)
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Open to all Library members ages 0–12! \nRegister for the Summer Reading Club and stop by the Children and Teens Services Desk at the Library to pick up your Challenge Cards or download them online. For each day that you read 30 minutes or more\, fill in one of the spaces on the card. After seven days of reading\, the card will be complete. When a Challenge Card is completed\, stop by the Children and Teens Services Desk to drop off your Challenge Card(s) in our raffle box and enter to win great prizes. A raffle will be held each week throughout the summer. The more challenges you complete\, the more chances you have to win. For young children\, being read to counts as well! \nRead as much as you can between 1 July and 26 August 2023 and turn in your challenge cards at the Children’s and Teens’ Services Desk by 26 August to be entered into the grand prize drawing\, and earn your certificate of participation. \nLibrary members who are interested in participating must register for the Summer Reading Club. Registered participants may then stop by the Children and Teens Services Desk at the Library to pick up their challenge cards or download them online. \n  \nRegistered participants are invited to drop by the Library to meet other readers\, play games\, and celebrate the beginning of the Library’s Summer Reading Challenge on Saturday 1 July. \n  \n\nChildren between the ages 6–12 may participate in Library programs on their own\, while their chaperone remains inside the Library. Learn how he put his research about thirteenth-century France together and mixed it up with his own stories to create this tale\, then stay for a Q&A with the author!\n\nMr. Gidwitz will be signing books\, and books will be available for purchase at this event courtesy of a local bookseller.\n\nAbout Adam Gidwitz: Adam Gidwitz is the author of the Newbery Honor book The Inquisitor’s Tale\, the bestseller A Tale Dark & Grimm and its companions\, and the bestselling series The Unicorn Rescue Society. He is also the creator and narrator of the award winning podcast Grimm\, Grimmer\, Grimmest\, and he helped produce the Emmy-nominated animated adaptation of A Tale Dark & Grimm for Netflix. He lives in Brooklyn\, NY with his wife\, daughter\, and a dog named Lucy Goosey. But actively making music—with our voices and our bodies—is important to children’s overall development. Since 1987\, Music Together\, has introduced millions of children\, parents\, and teachers to the joys of music-making and the powerful benefits of having music in their lives. In our family workshops children and parents learn together through active exploration and live\, meaningful interaction. So\, take out the earbuds and pick up the instruments we were all given at birth—ourselves! Each child (aged 0–5) should accompany one of their favorite grownups. \nAbout Stacey Pavesi Debré:  An American in Paris since 2014\, Stacey has been passionate about music and learning her whole life.
