SUMMARY:Story Hour: Happy Birthdays (ages 3–5)
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””]For this program\, join us for stories all about birthdays. Stories featured in this event include picture books such as When’s My Birthday? by Julie Fogliano\, illustrated by Christian Robinson (pictured here). We’ll also sing songs and practice rhymes. The Library is 106 years old\, and we’ll sing happy birthday to the Library during this event! \nThis program is entirely in English\, and no translation will be provided. This participatory program is intended to encourage children to actively engage with stories. Children’s and Teens’ Services staff members will read books and lead you and your little one in songs and hand-rhymes during a live\, interactive session. Plan to join in\, sing along\, move around\, and model movement and listening for your little one. We ask that all caregivers put away their phones and other electronic devices for the duration of this program. With your help\, we hope to inspire children to become lifelong readers![/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1704817042485{border-left-width: 8px !important;padding-left: 8px !important;border-left-color: #9e0143 !important;border-left-style: solid !important;}”]  \nImportant information: This event is for Library members\, and advance registration is required. Caregivers are expected to familiarize themselves with the Library Policy for Children and the Rules and Code of Conduct so that we can provide a pleasant library environment for all patrons. Questions about collections and programs for children and teens can be sent to the Library’s Children’s and Teens’ Services Manager\, Celeste Rhoads: celeste@americanlibraryinparis.org.[/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_btn title=”Library Policy” style=”custom” custom_background=”#194573″ custom_text=”#ffffff” size=”lg” align=”center” i_icon_fontawesome=”fas fa-child” add_icon=”true” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Famericanlibraryinparis.org%2Fchildren-in-the-library-policy%2F|target:_blank”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_btn title=”Register here” style=”custom” custom_background=”#194573″ custom_text=”#ffffff” size=”lg” align=”center” i_icon_fontawesome=”” css=”” add_icon=”true” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fdocs.google.com%2Fforms%2Fd%2Fe%2F1FAIpQLSex1b7TwJZUBFd36EtG9SsHZ0YXrVbn3s_MohmCilSOAAEAZQ%2Fviewform%3Fusp%3Ddialog|target:_blank”][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row]

SUMMARY:Screening: The President and the Dragon with the Carter Center
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””]In partnership with the American Library of Paris\, the Carter Center is excited to announce a special event in Paris showcasing the new documentary film The President and the Dragon. \nThis searing and compelling documentary\, a Touchline production in association with The Brave Road and Buffalo 8\, tells the story of an unlikely crew – comprising public health veterans\, local volunteers and former child soldiers\, plus President Jimmy Carter himself – traversing Sudan and South Sudan in pursuit of an ambitious goal: the total eradication of the vicious Guinea worm disease. \nAbout the Carter Center: \nIn 1982\, President Jimmy Carter and Mrs. Rosalynn Carter founded The Carter Center to “wage peace\, fight disease\, and build hope” in nations around the world. In 1986\, Guinea worm disease afflicted an estimated 3.5 million people a year in 21 countries in Africa and Asia. Today\, thanks to the work of The Carter Center and its partners – including the countries themselves – the incidence of Guinea worm has been reduced by more than 99.99% to 10 human cases in 2025.[/vc_column_text][vc_btn title=”Register here” color=”primary” css=”” link=”url:http%3A%2F%2Fgoogle.com%2Furl%3Fsa%3Dj%26url%3Dhttps%253A%252F%252Fthecartercenter.formstack.com%252Fforms%252Ftcc520screening%253Fbbeml%253Dtp-Dm_SN_kaVE6HLULDUnPr0g.jZL5t9uq70ESwX6K49PCUwQ.r5EjkjTT7uEirxZF3FRq2fg.lQVa_H8U64kCd7teoRPfuWg%26uct%3D1775054564%26usg%3DkXOAG62pR91v0c8nsAOnJj5OVYw.%26opi%3D73833047%26source%3Dchat”][vc_separator][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””]Important information: The event includes a reception and opening remarks before the screening. Logistics and additional details will be provided to attendees after registration. Registration is on a first-come basis. Space is limited. Once capacity is reached\, we will maintain a waitlist.
