Young Writers Literary Club (ages 11-15) (By RSVP) (FULL)

15 June 2019 @ 10 h 30 min - 12 h 00 min

ages 11-15

Hosted by volunteer Laura Hershey, this monthly workshop is designed to teach children aged 11-15 the fundamentals of writing and literary analysis in a fun interactive setting.

These workshops will be a combination of lessons, exercises, games and group discussions to introduce students to the literary greats and the important movements of English-language literature. We will be learning a breadth of literary devices and terms in order to analyze texts more deeply and put them to use in our own writing. Each month, we will cover a different author, genre, or time period as we explore the richness and diversity of literature and sharpen our critical reading skills.
About Laura: Laura is a Canadian specializing in policy writing and marketing & communications. She has worked for the federal governments of Canada and Bermuda as well as the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in Paris. She is the mother of two bilingual children attending school in the French public school system and she is passionate about ensuring children develop literary skills to enhance their love of reading and writing.

This club is currently full. Send an email to Celeste, our children’s & teens’ services manager, if you would like to be placed on the waiting list: celeste@americanlibraryinparis.org Participation in children’s events is free for Library members and 10€ for non-members.
