Evenings with an Author: Visiting Fellow Molly Antopol
June 19 @ 19 h 30 min - 21 h 00 min
In her fiction, writer and Summer Fellow Molly Antopol is motivated more by questions than by themes: What happens when the causes to which a person has dedicated their life lose relevance in the course of world events? What happens to a person when they’re so intent on trying to change the world that they lose sight of the people closest to them? What’s the relationship between activism and narcissism? During her evening talk, Antopol will read from her work, and talk about the research she’s undertaking for her new novel, The After Party.
Molly is the author The UnAmericans (W.W. Norton, 2014), a story collection that won the New York Public Library’s Young Lions Fiction Award and a National Book Foundation 5 Under 35 Award, among other prizes. During her time in Paris, Antopol will work on her novel in progress, The After Party, which will also be published by Norton. This new novel explores issues of surveillance and privacy, making it deeply resonant in the current landscape.
