Kristen Roupenian graduated from Barnard College and holds a PhD in English from Harvard and an MFA in Fiction from the Helen Zell Writers’ Program at the University of Michigan. She is the author of the nationally bestselling story collection You Know You Want This, which has been sold in 27 territories and optioned by HBO. Her work has been published in The New Yorker, Harpers, The Atlantic, O Magazine, The Best American Nonrequired Reading 2018, and other places. She is currently at work on a novel.
For her evening at the Library, Kristen will be in conversation with author Mark Mayer about the stories in You Know You Want This. Mark Mayer has an MFA from the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, where he was a Teaching-Writing Fellow. From 2012 to 2014, he lived at Cornell College’s Center for the Literary Arts as the Robert P. Dana Emerging Writer. His first book, Aerialists, won the Michener-Copernicus Prize is now out Bloomsbury USA. He is (soon to be) Faculty Fellow at Colby College.
