Our Birds of Paris Children's program on Saturday 22 July featured information about 9 different bird species that reside in our city including the Great Spotted Woodpecker, Rose-Ringed Parakeet and, of course, the ever-abundant Common Wood Pigeon. Program participants learned about the birds' diets and nesting materials, listened to their calls, and even did a little indoor bird sighting.

We read these great books during the program (all available at the Library):

Bird Talk: What Birds are Saying and Why by Lita Judge

Bird by David Burnie

Mama Built a Little Nest by Jennifer Ward

Birds by Joy Richardson

Froodle by Antoinette Portis

There are more than 200 different bird species that live in and around Paris. If you would like to learn more about them, have a look at these books and websites:

Birds of Europe by Lars Svensson

The Life of Birds by David Attenborough
