British actor and writer Robin Ellis, (best known for his role as Captain Ross Poldark in the original BBC Poldark series, based on the books by the late Winston Graham) is also a cook who has lived in southwestern France for 27 years. He was shocked to be diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes in his fifties. Research told him the best culinary approach was a low-carb Mediterranean diet—and with that--and exercise--he staved off medication for the condition for six years. He has now written three cookbooks on healthy eating. For many years he ran residential healthy cooking workshops in his village of Lautrec, famous for its pink garlic.

The evening will be a canter through a varied career as actor, author and cook, with the accent on how to eat well and healthily.
