About the speaker

Judge McKeown bio photoJudge McKeown was appointed to the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit by President Clinton and was confirmed by the United States Senate in 1998.  Before appointment to the court, she was a partner in a major international law firm, where she specialized in intellectual property and antitrust.  She holds a law degree and honorary doctorate from Georgetown University Law Center.  She was a White House Fellow in 1980-81, serving as Special Assistant to the Secretary of the Interior and Special Assistant at the White House.  Judge McKeown is chair of the American Bar Association Rule of Law Initiative Board, chair of the Georgetown Law Board of Visitors, and a member of the Board of Managerial Trustees of the International Women Judges Association.
